Dear Friends and Family

 

I am writing on behalf of my loving husband, Mike Bryant. Mike suffers from congestive heart failure, among other heart related problems. I'll give you some history of the journey Mike has faced and will be facing. He had a pace maker and defibrillator and continued to work as an automobile mechanic after this surgery. Several months later, he took a huge turn for the worse. He became very weak, unable to get around. He was forced to retire/leave work due to these health related complications. In March of 2010, Mike had become so ill that his condition forced him to have LVAD surgery. This device now does most of the work of his heart. Currently, Mike is one of the longest running patients with the LVAD. He was told the average wait for a heart is between 6 and 18 months. Now, Mike has had his LVAD for more the 22 months.

 

The LVAD is a stepping stone in the process to acquire a life-saving heart transplant. Mike was forced to change insurance companies when his former employer's business closed in July of 2012. This in turn caused him to be taken off the active transplant list until he has enough money to reach his deductible, which is $5000. Because of this, Mike and I now must ask for contributions from each of you so that he can be placed back on the active transplant list. We appreciate the efforts of all those who have made contributions thus far, but we still are in need of additional funds. Mike has had several recent stays in the hospital as his condition continues to worsen. We are desperate for your help. Any contribution you are able to make is greatly appreciated.
