Thanks to the financial support of family, friends of family, and hundreds of people who contributed to the NTAF Northwest Stem Cell Transplant Fund on Randee's behalf, she was able to finally have her transplant on July 22nd!
Randee unfortunately suffered a life-threatening complication post-transplant, however, but not as a result of the transplant, but rather as a result of the severity of her uncontrolled disease. She underwent rather emergent surgery just before Christmas, and for the first time since diagnosis almost ten years ago, Randee is free of the debilitating symptoms of Crohn's disease post stem cell transplant!
Today, Randee is under the care of a physical therapist for severe muscle wasting and atrophy due to the extended amount of time Randee was immobile as a result of the severity of her disease. She will require extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain full use of her muscles and resume the life she left behind over a year ago as a result of the devastating and debilitating effects of uncontrolled Crohn's disease.
Because Randee had to proceed with transplant without insurance coverage, her family and a personal family friend had to cover a majority of the $125,000 cash deposit required to proceed with treatment. As a result, Randee continues to need your help to not only recover the cost of the transplant, but also to fund post-transplant expenses as well as a result of the extensive damage her uncontrolled disease caused.
A fundraising campaign has been established with NTAF (National Transplant Assistance Fund) in Randee's honor to help offset this costs and assist her during her recovery. NTAF is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 26 years. All contributions are administered by NTAF exclusively for transplant-related expenses only.
