FIND A PATIENT
A New Name and Web Address in the New Year
12/07/2009
News
You spoke; we listened. A spring/summer 2009 survey of our patients, patient families,
volunteers, and health care professionals revealed that NTAF was the name people were
most familiar with when referring to our organization. As of January 4, 2010, our new name
will be NTAF - The Leader in Fundraising Assistance and Support for Transplant and
Catastrophic Injury.
We will slowly begin changing the name on all materials, as well as on our Web site,
which will have a new Web address (URL). Beginning January 4, 2010, access NTAF
on the Web at www.ntafund.org. If you, or a contributor, mistakenly types in one of the
current URLs – http://www.transplantfund.org or http://www.catastrophicfund.org – after January 4,
you (or they) will be automatically rerouted to the new URL www.NTAFund.org.
A 26-year history of NTAF:
| 1983 | The National Heart Assist & Transplant Fund (NHATF) was established to assist end-stage heart disease patients with funding for transplants, which at the time were considered experimental by insurance companies. |
| 1989 | NHATF begins to serve lung-heart and lung transplant patients. |
| 1995 | NHATF begins to serve all solid organ, bone marrow and stem cell transplant patients – and changes its name to National Transplant Assistance Fund to include its broadened patient population. |
| 2000 | National Transplant Assistance Fund expands its service to help individuals living with catastrophic injuries (spinal cord and traumatic brain). The NTAF Catastrophic Injury Program— a special program of the National Transplant Assistance Fund, is established. |
| 2005 | National Transplant Assistance Fund becomes known as National Transplant Assistance Fund & Catastrophic Injury Program. |
| 2010 | National Transplant Assistance Fund & Catastrophic Injury Program becomes NTAF – The leader in fundraising assistance and support for transplant and catastrophic injury. |
