Important Message About Facebook Affiliate Cause Requests

News
If you maintain a Facebook Cause that benefits NTAF and had requested to become an Affiliate Cause you may have recently received a message regarding NTAF's rejection of your request. Please know that we are not rejecting connection with your Cause in any way— we simply do not have the manpower (well, womanpower) to become administrators of our patients’ Facebook Causes. The option to become an Affiliate Cause of NTAF is automatically provided through Causes, which is administered by the nonprofit Network for Good. We apologize if the option is misleading. It wasn’t until recently that we even realized this option was being provided to our patients.
We are a national nonprofit with a small staff that administers more than 1,500 patient campaigns at one time. Our primary fundraising service/support is that of community-based fundraising – not online fundraising. When social networking (e.g., Facebook) took the world by storm, NTAF quickly established a presence by creating the NTAF Fan Page and Cause as a way to meet our patients where they were (online). Patients, their family and friends quickly began using social networks as a way to generate additional funds for their campaign – which is just great!! We are happy that our patients have found additional avenues to raise money to meet the many uninsured expenses they face – but as of now, we do not have the staff capacity to facilitate this process for them in addition to the other services/support we provide.
However, we are available to field any Cause-related questions you may have to the best of our ability. We even have a document that outlines how Cause contributions are processed and administered. Please contact your NTAF Patient Services Coordinator at 1.800.642.8399 to request a copy.
Thus far, NTAF patients have raised a total of $18,000 through Causes. I hope that you too find success using this method.
Any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
Thanks,
