NTAF is pleased to announce that it has lowered the fees charged to Catastrophic Injury patients from seven percent to four percent.

“We’re delighted to be able to reduce the fees for this service,” explained Lynne Coughlin Samson. “The change went into effect on March 1 and is applicable to both new patients and existing patients.”

The NTAF Board of Directors made the decision to lower fees based on the increasing numbers of catastrophic campaigns that are opening. The fee was initially higher because catastrophic patients often have immediate need for the funds, while funds raised for transplant patients frequently remain with NTAF for a longer period of time, generating interest for operating expenses.

NTAF began providing services to patients with catastrophic injury in 2000. At this point, NTAF is working with 62 families to raise funds to cover the host of uninsured expenses that accompany a catastrophic injury, including home and vehicle modification, home health care, experimental therapy and treatment that is not covered by insurance.

NTAF patients have raised $2.275 million to date.
